I've been reloading for a year now, pistols and shotgun only. I use a 550, and I need some imput from y'all.
I want some good .30 carbine HP ammo. I tried reloading it once before, but the powder charge was too much--whenever the shell plate revolved, some powder spilled from the cases. It did not turn out well. Does anyone have any experience, or loads that have worked well? Thank you Ben |

Hodgdon H-110 was manufactured for this very purpose. It worked well in the M1 carbine that the DCM sold me in 1967 for $17 (it turned out to be a brand new Winchester, made in 1959!).
Just be aware that this is not a cartridge to hot rod with. It is working a lot closer to the proof level than most cartridges, as the performance from early ammo was less than expected, so the working pressure was just increased without strengthening the gun. Still a lot of fun to plink with. Walt |

I've been using IMR 4227 for a couple of years, and it works great in my Carbine. I've also used it to make low pressure, high density handgun loads, so there is some small amount of versatility.
