S&W dates of manufacture

I have several Smiths, I presume from the 60s,70s and 80s, is there any way I can date this guns?

Post the model numbers and/or model names and the serial numbers with xxx for the last three digits. Some will have dash number after the model number, post that also.

Model 29-2
Ser # 123xxx

Somebody will hit backatcha with dates.

Get yourself a copy of "The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson," 2nd edition, by Rick Nahaus and Jim Supica.

EXCELLENT reference book with more information that you'll ever want or need to know, including extensive serial number ranges on all of S&W's handgun offerings, all the way back to the founding of the company.

Model 25-5 N849xxx
Model 29-3 N888xxx
Model 17-3 1K75xxx

have a s-w model # 64-5 in 38 cal. 3inch barrel s.s. any idea of manufacture date on it and also looking to sell or trade it 99% CONDITION email is [email protected]
