We can all buy surplus helmets pretty cheap, right? Well, overseas in Taiwan that was not always the case; especially after the Nationalist were kicked off the mainland by the Commies.
One company commander was awarded the 'Overcoming Difficulty Hero Medal' for developing a paper mache helmet that looked like the GI steel pot. It was decided that when used, it would give the troops a boost in morale. I hope it doesn't rain off Taiwan. Taken from Frank Holober's Raiders of the China Coast, published by the Naval Institute Press. ------------------ Vigilantibus et non dormientibus jura subveniunt |
