7mm Nambu

Hi everyone,
I am trying to reload the 7mm Nambu, I have bullets, cases but I don't have reloading data or max pressure data, do you have any idea?

If I had a Baby Nambu, the LAST thing I'd be doing would be shooting it.

They bring very high collector prices.

Why not, some shoots don't damage it (only if I have correct data or pressures)

That's the problem now, isn't it?

You're trying to shoot a valuable gun with a round that has never been loaded commercially, and for which no company has ever produced ammunition.

You're in the dark, and that's not a good place to be, unfortunately.

Not even the old standby, Cartridges of the World, has loading information for it.

According to COTW, it should generate about 1,250 fps with a 56 grain bullet, but that is simply a GUESSTIMATE.

That would make it a little more powerful than the .32 ACP, so if I had a gun pointed to my head, I'd use .32 ACP loading data as my starting point.

ROCK BOTTOM .32 loading data.

I will not give out secondhand load data on the Internet, but if you can find a copy of 'Pistols, A Modern Encyclopedia' by Henry Stebbins, and a can of duPont P5066 powder, you can give it a try.

I don't think 5066 has been made in what, 20 years or more?

Assuming cast bullets so that hanging a bullet in the bore is not a big deal, I would start with 1.5 grains of Unique or AA 5, and work up by tenths until I got reliable functioning. That's basically a .25 ACP load which should make it a safe starting point.

I will try 3 grains of Vihtavuori N340 (similar to Winchester 540) and a homemade bullet of 64 grains (I have passed 32 Acp Fiocchi lead bullets trought a common washer and I have obtained .280 bullets). I think that the bottle neck case prefer slow burning powders and in this way I fill a little bit more the case than with a fast burning powder, pressures should be around 11289 psi (I have a ballistic computer), 25 ACP maximun pressures is listed at 17405 psi, what do you think?
