Glock 30 Loaded Chamber Indicator

I just received my G30. Have not had a chance to fire it yet. Does this gun have a loaded chamber indicator? I cleaned it and chambered a round. At the extractor cut, I can't see any difference between loaded and un-loaded. Am I missing something? Must the gun be broken in first? Case Color? Anyone? Thanks, Topspin

Unless they have made changes in the G30, there is no loaded chamber indicator.

Using the extractor as an indicator does not work on my G30.

Glocks manufactured in the last year or so have relatively pronounced chamber-loaded indicators.

Earlier Glocks are also easy to determine the status of. Here's empty:

Tamara: Thanks. I just bought my G30 and the picture link you posted, looks nothing like what I have on my gun. Whether loaded or un-loaded, (Meaning one in the tube), you can see what appears to be the front end of the Extractor depressor plunger butted up against the rear of the extractor. I am NOT an armorer or well versed on GLOCKS. This is my first GLOCK, so I hope I am not mis-leading anyone with this. What made me ask was; while looking to buy the gun, I was given a brochure from 2003. In the brochure, there is a picture of a G17. An arrow points to the extractor and the text says: Visual and palpable indicator. ????????? It looks like my extractor but.......you can't look at my gun (Extractor), and tell if its loaded or un-loaded. Topspin

Both my G30 and G21 look just like the picture that Tamara posted loaded/unloaded. IMO, it's not enough to go on, so I'd stick with the proven method of looking in the chamber.

FWIW, if the trigger is to the rear, that's usually at least as good an indication that the chamber is empty, and even if it's loaded, there's no way to fire the round without racking the slide...

1. All guns are always loaded

Not sure...refer to rule #1 and treat it as such

Well I just did a show and tell with my G30.

If I hold the gun just right in good light I can see the thingy sticking out ever so slightly. I am not able to feel the difference however.

If that is what Glock touts as a loaded chamber indicator well......

obiwan is correct.
