magnum and 3" buck ?

what does magnum mean? does it just mean more shot? and how about 3" magnum does that mean more shot and a bigger shell?

one more question how fast would the buck be going in a 3" magnum 00 12ga shell?

Many people get confused about magnum rifles and pistols, and magnum shotguns.

Magnum rifle and pistol rounds have more power and higher velocity.

The modern standard shotgun shell is 2 3/4 inches long. The 3" shell is....3 inches.

Magnum shotgun shells just have more shot. For instance, a standard load of #00 buckshot is 9 pellets. A Magnum load is 12 pellets, and a 3" shell holds 16 pellets.

Magnum shells put more shot into the air. The shot isn't going any faster than standard shells, and doesn't carry any farther.

What you gain is more shot = a better chance of getting hits on target. The minus, is increased recoil and blast = loss of speed and controlability.

and to add;

you will find out 9 out of 10 times the shot travels slower due to a bigger payload in front of the wad/gas seal that the powder must get moving.

The only real advantage in magnum are more shot per shell and the big dis-advantage are size ( capacity ) and cost.

hold 15 00 pellets...and make a MESS of pretty much anything i've shot them at..

Oh, and hurt like all heck when fired from folding stock Mossy 500
