Robar Companies Re-Finishing
I have several older S&W K-frames (both early 1970's vintage so no real collector value) which are mechanically good but have worn and marred finishes. I am thinking about having them re-finished with hopefully a close to original S&W blueing. S&W will do it but their price seems high. Their two main pluses are that the finish should be more correct than any other company and that I can drive my pistol there and pick-up, which saves me shipping costs.
Has anyone had a pistol re-blued by Robar? I have heard many good things about their other finishes but do not recall any discussions about their blueing? I need some help and advice where to go. Thanks.

Robar specializes in coatings/plating
Not to say they can't do blueing. Since shipping is such an outrage for handguns, the fact you can take it to S&W yourself is a huge bonus. You know it'll be done right, there.

I want to try to return these firearms to (close to) their original condition. This includes blueing. No need for fancy finishes on either of them.

captainHoek...
"I dunno, Price, blue done well is about the fanciest finish I know of."
I agree. By fancy finishes I was actually referring to more exotic finishes such as hard chrome or Black-T. I want these pistols to have the great blue jobs that used to come on S&W products.

If I were in your shoes, I'd drive to the Springfield plant and wait for them in the lobby.
