Maybe, if you stick with very simple, basic designs - five-shot steel 38s, 7-shot steel 357s, etc.
NO, if you buy stuff that "pushes the envelope" with lightweight materials, small guns for the caliber offered (Tracker in five-shot 44Mag fr'instance) or anything in Titanium, magnesium, plastic, etc. And for God's sake don't buy a Gaucho. A lot of people are attracted to the "edgy" stuff Taurus builds for the US market. Bad idea.

Their Beretta style 9MM pistols seem to be perfectly good guns. The one I had was. I had a revolver that had an insurmountable manufacturing defect in the 80s tho.

It’s difficult to define this as a simple yes or no. Not only for Taurus but for any gun or any device.
I own one Taurus, a 5 shot revolver. Have no complaints about it. It’s good. The entire line? No way can I speak for that as good or bad. |

I have a 605 revolver and a PT111 mil pro. Both have been great guns and given good service. I have Smith's and Rugers also so I'm not just a Taurus fanboy.

Point? Anyone answering without first hand knowledge is just fueling the whole "Taurus - tastes GREAT / Less filling" debate.

Taurus Gaucho is a nice wall-hanger, but a dangerous piece of junk if you intend to shoot it. With enough gunsmithing and aftermarket parts, you can make a good shooter out of it. (that's what I've done with mine, but the barrel still leads badly because of rough bore with tool marks; I should probably "fire lap" it)

"Taurus Hand Guns "can be" Good." Hey, if you got a good one, you're happy.
Just like any manufactuter, you're going to get a lemon every once in a while, Taurus just puts out a non-lemon once in a while. |

A qualified yes: I've only owned one (still do-a Model 415) and I haven't shot it extensively. But, so far, so good.

Taurus handguns are good for people who don't shoot.
For shooters, they break time and time again. |
