SOB holster

Anyone here ever use a SOB holster for a fullsize 1911? How do you like it?

When I first started carrying I tried a SOB holster once and it was for a 1911. I tried it for about 10 minutes then took it off sent it back and got an IWB strong side holster. After trying it for just a few minutes I can not for the life om me figure out how or why anyone would use one. I sticks out like a sore thumb when you bend over, not all that easy to get too and if you fall on it your spine is going to take a serious beating. No matter what position you sit in you can feel it directly on your spine. We are all different and all prefer different things so you may find someone who likes carrying SOB but the printing when bending over and the gun next to your spine looks to me like it would be a problem for everyone. On the plus side they do look really cool.

i have heard that people do not recommend carrying in that fashion due to potential spine injury. i have tucked a gun into the small of my back and ran out with a jacket over it if i had to run around the neighborhood for something, but i like iwb kidney carry. i dont have a cant on my holster but for now its a cheapo uncle mikes and its actually very comfortable

I have used SOB for carry before and I like it. If it is done right it conceals well and is easy to get to unless seated. Lots of folks put it directly over the spine...that is wrong. The proper position is about the 4:00-5:00 position, assuming the spine is 6:00.

I have one for a PM9 that I don't like -- maybe because I sit alot.

If you're on your feet all the time, it may work for you.

i cary my xd40sc sob, i use a bladetech uch.
i cary about 7 'o clock with a FBI cant.
i have been in motorcycle wrecks, fallen down stairs, fell down a pretty steep rocky trail.
i have never had any spine injury.
carrying sob puts your gun at no more risk of being taken than any other cary. im always amused by the guys that pop up and say this on any thread that even hints at sob carry.

I have a SOB for my Sig 220. it is fine for deep concealment in a crowd like a state fair or something where you are not sitting a lot but side to side contact is a distint possability.

Regardless of what troy says, spinal injury is absolutely a concern. Count him lucky I suppose.

At one time I carried a spare mag in a horizontal rig (was an old knife pouch actually) in the center of my belt over my spine. It was a very convenient and out of the way place for an extra mag. I thought I was soooo slick!!

One day a buddy and I were doing some basic disarming, and defensive training, and he flipped me over his shoulder and I landed on my back. DIRECTLY on the slim Sig P220 magazine on my belt.

I could not move for over 5 minutes.
I was in excruciating agony.
We all thought I was paralyzed.

Later, when I was able to get up and walk on my own, I went to a doctor. He told me that I was extraordinarily lucky that I did not cause myself serious, permanent spinal injury from this.

That day I threw out my makeshift mag holder as well as the Galco SOB holster I used on occasion for my Glock 23.

The SOB holster is aptly named!!

It truly is a Son of a B!!!

Especially if you fall backwards while your gun is in it!!!
