M14HDW.US Rogue Bullpup M14

I have been interested in a bullpup conversion for years and recently found what I have been looking for...

The Rogue bullpup chassis is made by an outfit called Juggernaut Tactical, it's a work of art and it's not cheap.

I am still toying with optics and accessories, but this is how it looks today with my old Crazy Horse MK14 Mod 0
type SEI installed. The OAL is just 28 and 1/4 inches with an 18.0" barrel and a DC Vortex flash eliminator.

Have you researched the trigger?

I've heard the triggers are not so great...

When I see a m1a I see a beautiful rifle all blued up sitting in a walnut stock with a national match sling on it

I like the idea of a bullpup, especially in a caliber like .308. I don't like the idea of bullpups mistreating us left-handed shooters. I'd stick with the traditional M1A and it's right-side charging handle which works out about 50 times better for us southpaws.

I like the Crazy Horse better, but you can always change it back if you want, and it's your money. I'm scratching my head at a few things though. It would make a whole lot more sense to me for a bullpup config to retain the original irons, or at the very least some BUIS. I've never handled one in person, but I don't understand the necessity of the huge heat shield over the top of the weapon that covers up the iron sights. Does it serve a purpose?

How's the trigger? Do you know what the total weight of the new chassis plus the barreled receiver is?

Researched it, inspected it and shot it.

Military 2 stage with a clean break... it feels about the same as it did in the SAGE EBR only different.

Jason
A set of Troy Micros shipped today.
The heat shield is actually your cheek rest.
The trigger is excellent and the weight with a medium heavy 18.0" barrel and empty mag is pictured below.

I'm not usually a fan of techno-magic M14 stocks, but because I like bullpups that one is cool as all getout.

It looks like the spawn of an M14 and an L85 collided violently with a FAMAS... In a good way.

Oh, I see the rail extends all the way back. For some reason when I saw the first pic, I thought the rail stopped where the EOTech was mounted. I guess I was looking at the rear of the mount. I see now even in the first pic that the rail goes all the way back. That's why I made the comment about not having provisions for decent irons.

I still don't think I like it though. No disrespect, of course.

There's no way I'd ever shoot one of them things....

But I'm a lefty, so it's kind of expected. For righthanded folk I expect it would be alright. Interesting concept to say the least...

While I certainly understand the logic of the bullpup design for "operators" that actually need a shorter weapon for CQB, I just don't see an application for "recreational" shooters that would justify the expense. Just another worthless $.02 opinion, good luck with it.

Sounds...warm.

Not sure I like the idea of my face so close to an open Garand-style action.

I'm sure there are more than a few people that would love to dictate what
we need and don't need... these people don't have our best interest at heart.

I've got to stop looking at this thread. It hurts my heart to see that nice rifle condemned to that fugly chassis!

Are you already back from Camp Perry? How did it shoot?

Jason,

mine has an 18" barrel, the one that went to CP is owned by a former Gunny
and his has the 22' barrel. I haven't seen any after action reports from CP yet.

I like the idea of a 7.62mm bull-pup. I like the Kel-Tec RFB. I like the Springfield M1A, especially its shorter versions like the SOCOM 16. It seems like a natural evolution to want a bull-pup version.

That being said, I think this particular version is ugly as sin, and doesn't look well designed or well put together. Just my opinion, and I could easily be wrong -- on everything except my opinion that it's ugly -- it will always look ugly to me. But it's your rifle, so if you like it, great. Hope it shoots well for you

Gotcha, I assumed both of them were your actions and you had just traded them out in the new chassis.

Oh, it's ugly as a bar of homemade soap, but I think it looks like it is well put together. I'm guessing that the action is mechanically bedded in the chassis, sort of like the EBR chassis? Looks like the barrel is basically free floated. I'm sure it's probably great from a functional standpoint if you're into bullpups. I'm not a big bullpup fan though, and I love the traditional M14, so I don't think I'd be able to overcome the ugly factor, but it is neat I guess.

I wasn't using "need" in the context of "right to have"...
Far as I'm concerned, we should all be able to have select fires...
I meant "need" as in having a use for such.

Anyone that "needs" a CQB, compact battle rifle- law enforcement, military, private security- as examples would find the bullpup design of interest as an alternative type of PDW perhaps.

Now, I would be interested in seeing side-by-side test targets of the action in the bullpup chassis and it's McMillan stock.

If they print the same, I'll be a convert. Otherwise, I'll still believe there's a cost to accuracy.
