Where do you go for unbiased news?

We all talk of the bias in the media. Is there anyplace to go for unbiased news?

Where do you get your news from?

All news is somewhat biased. Reporters are human and thus can't entirely take their biases out of it. It may only show up in their choices of stories, it may be more blantant. Some try hard to keep their biases out as much as possible, others don't try.

So you can try to go somewhere that does better than others to keep bias out, or you can go somewhere that shares yours.

For TV news I like Fox best (not unbiased, but more conservative and less anti-Israel in their biases than the other US TV options). For newpapers I don't particulartly like any that much (the conservative ones are usually less professional, the liberal ones range from doing a fairly decent job of keeping bias out but with major lapses to not even bothering to try and all the liberal ones tend to be rabidly anti-Israel).

I like The Jerusalem Post for my news out of Israel.

What Chaim said.

There's no such thing as a non-biased source.

I catch radio news when I'm in the car, AP and UPI news online, and local newspaper in the evenings. Then I surf around online to see what everyone else is saying about the news (which, in a democracy, the most important aspect of the news anyway -- and yeah yeah we don't live in a democracy, except that we do. Nobody's worried about those dead white guys anymore.)

The only news source I don't watch is TeeVee. There's just not enough content to justify the irritation it produces. Exception to that is if there is a breaking, visual news story (eg, 9/11 qualified.)

Television is a triumph of equipment over people, and the minds that control it are so small that you could put them in a gnat's navel with room left over for two caraway seeds and an agent's heart. -- Fred Allen

Biased or Not?

I watch CNN Headline News; but its not the same
since Lynne Russell left the airways! She did an out-
standing job, for a long time!

No TV, Radio or Print Media......

TV is too biased. Radio is biased and not convenient. Newspapers and Magazines are simply too far behind the events.

I get my news online, reading multiple sources with the goal of getting enough total information to decide what is true and what is not.

I also visit sites like "Accuracy in Media" and "Media Research Center."

www.thedrudgereport.com has links to all the major sorces such as AP, UPI, Reuters, etc.
While they may all have some slant or other you can get veiws from other parts of the world and sort of average them out to see what's really going on.
If that's toomuch trouble, then Fox.
I like newsmax, too.

Don't think it's possible to find "unbiased" news.
Follow "events" in the local paper, Fox online, and often HERE.

This is going to sound somewhat odd but I have a habit of waiting to see what SOF magazine has to say about certain news items. The delay is long but at least they aren't left wing media.

No where.

In short, there is NO one source of unbiased news. Unless you go to the event yourself and observe what happened.

I think that you have to look at a variety of sources, both those with your own ideological/philosophical viewpoint AND some with the opposite viewpoint to try to determine what the truth really is.

Those sources that claim to be unbiased are only fooling themselves and are trying to fool you. Everyone has a bias. And we all think that our bias' are correct.

Worldnet, Fox News and News Max. Sort of mix them all together, and see what you get

Actually, that's good advice, though given in tongue-in-cheek.

1) Look at the story from different sources.
2) Consider the source.

And remember, it's not just a bias problem. Stories are filtered by harried reporters. No matter how hard they try, they'll miss stuff -- sometimes important stuff. Alternatively, sometimes they'll throw in unimportant stuff because it's nearly deadline and they've got another inch to fill.

All news is biased.

The best I can do is be skeptical and assume I'm being manipulated and lied to.

Use my skepticism and common sense to interpret what I hear.

Never ever react to one story from one source.

Look at the supports of both side of an issue. You can tell alot about what reality is by who supports what.

Well, not yet. But I just read in US News and World Report that the Democrats are in the early stages of planning their own little network to counteract all the Republican bias in the media....

There is no unbiased news. Even those who strive to present so called fair and balanced reporting wind up shading what they say with their own biases. No human being can be totally objective because we are neither omniscient nor without personal interests.

It's critical to analyze what you hear, check it against other sources and what you know to be true, and keep your BS meter finely tuned and fully operational.

I listen to FOX, Rush, & Hannity predominately and generally find NPR & network news to be obviously biased. I cancelled our local liberal rag although my wife will buy a newstand copy on occasion for sale info. But we take nothing that we read or hear at face value.

I go for biased news sources that admit their bias . Virtually all conservative sources admit it, a very few liberal ones do as well.

This phenomenon carries over into real life. I have yet to hear one of my conservative friends take offense at being called "conservative", but I constantly hear people (who I know to be liberal by the ideas that they espouse) say things like "Don't label me!" or goofier still, "I'm a moderate!". As much as I despise liberal ideology, I find those rare occasions, when a liberal cops to being liberal, refreshing. A thief that intends to take another's money by force of government to "do good" should at least admit that they are proud of being a thief.

The Washington Times is excellent. They also publish a weekly edition. Very pro-gun. U.S. News & World Report is fairly balanced and they have John Leo.

About the closest to unbiased news I have found are the various wire services such as Associated Press, United Press Int., Reuters, etc. I figure that if I eliminate the middle man, the reporter/editor, then little bias is added. Although even the wire services have some bias included at no extra charge.

The only truely non biased news source is C-SPAN. If you watch an entire press conference without commentary there is no bias. The bias is from the news source itself.

CNN makes me puke. I watch fox news.

As someone who used to work in the news media (TV news photographer) the only people I actually watch for TV reasonably-unbiased-news is Fox News Channel, CNN is a joke (I know people who work there, and who work for them overseas, and I could tell you some stories....... for one, reporters paying Palestinian kids to throw rocks at Israeli troops to get footage of kids getting shot at with rubber bullets!)

When it comes to internet, see if you can get UPI (United Press Int'l) Reuters is nearly as bad as BBC for overseas stuff, and don't ever trust ABC. Ever.

Associated Press is where most of the networks get the basics of their stories, and they still screw stuff up (I used to be on the AP system 20 hours a day, I can attest to that).
