CZ-82/83: Am I going to kick myself for not buying one cheap some day?

I'm having that feeling. Should I listen to it? Should we all listen to it?

If you want one you will regret not getting one. I had one, and I moved on. Yes it is cheap. Yes there are some neat features. The hard to find caliber that I always had to ship in got old, and 9x18 isn't as cheap as 9x19. Mine was accurate, but not great, not poor, just average. The sights were ok, but the killer was the darn thing hurt my hand after a while. Not that recoil was bad, but the grips tended to pinch. It was a good gun though. Never a misfire, or failure. I miss it, but I am happier with what I have now.

Great gun

Best DA trigger pull of any milsurp pistol I have encountered.

Additionally the 9X18 Makarov round tends to be available. Kinda strange days, when 9X18 (Makarov) is on the shelf, yet 9X19 (Parabelum) is not.
Whoda thunk it?

Great pistol, BTW don't tear one all the way down. Field strip is plenty, and easy to do.

Tearing one all the way down may entail bringing it to your gunsmith in a bag.

My coworker had one. He bought it at a gunshow for $220. Said it shot great. Two weeks later he was let go from work. He offered to sell it to me with a Uncle Mike's holster for $120. I screwed up, decided to pass and someone else bought it. I should of bought that gun.

Great trigger
Great ergonomics
Great accuracy
Good capacity
Decent round

I really like mine. It doesn't get used as much as some of my other guns, but it's a blast to shoot. Just wish 9x18 ammo was cheaper.

Well yeah... Especially if you're interested in getting a VG or EXC condition one and maybe slapping a pair of new (available from CZ) grips on it... I love my 82 9X18 and reload for it too.

One of the few guns that I have sold and wished I had not was an 83 in .32 with Marschalgrips. Got an offer for $550 (before the buying craze) because it was like new. Now wish I had it back even though I didn't shoot it much.

I'm still kicking myself for not buying one of the hundreds I saw for $220 a couple years ago. Buy one before they get up to $400

Sold my CZ-82 for $180 O_O

It was a pain always needing to order ammo online for it.

That was my excuse then...before the ammo crisis.

Check out gunbroker dot com regularly, they always have one pop up randomly.

Get one. Their great guns, have a large cap magazine, built like tanks and will just become more valuable with time--that's why I have 5!!

Any opinions of the CZ70? I don't really need another caliber to deal with though....

I had one..CZ82...lovely little pistol. Ran flawless with any type of 9x18 ammo, from Wolf to White Bear to S&B.

But it's a complex pistol to tear down completely and reassemble and the grips are problematic. And I already had a couple of 9mm's.

In the end, I was very pleased with it but I traded it for a pretty pristine S&W Model 10-5. Now THAT one is a classic. Love that old revolver.

I have two, one with silver/black Duracoat and the other a satin blue. Both guns shoot great, have a large mag capacity, can be carried cocked and locked and have a beautiful trigger. I bought walnut grips from Grips4U and they fit very well. 9x18 ammo was cheap and I ordered a thousand before the insanity. Oh yes, they are about the size of a Beretta 84 and not unpleasant to shoot.

They are a decent choice today

They were a good choice when they were $200 and ammo was 75% of the price of 9x19

They were a great choice when they were around $150 and ammo was half of the price of 9x19

Today..... Im not so sure.

For HD and CCW, the 9x18 has few few viable bullet choices. The Silver bear HP ammo has been proven to be inconsistent and generally doesnt expand. Buffalo Bore has a decent HP round, but its clear that the support for the round around the world isnt near whats offered for other rounds. Improvements in 9x19 bullet technology continues to improve.

Price trends are not good either... Look at gunbot..... 9 mak is about a nickle more per round than 9x19 for the cheap stuff.....It used to be half.....

What will the price be in 5 years...?

If you shoot long enough, you will quickly see that your real cost is not the weapon........ Its the cost of the bullets that puts the hurt on the person

To me, the prices of quality 9x19 pistols is close enough that unless I was a determined collector, I would pick the 9x19
(Or 40 n 45)
Kahr, M&P, Ruger, Beretta, and others all offer a cheap, quality pistol close eough in price and much simpler to take apart

Doesn't necessarily have to be for SD/HD. It can just be because its a blast to shoot and a piece of history!

The 83 pistol has been discontinued and when the supply of surplus 82 pistols dries up, they will go up in price so get one now. They are good pistols and I don't think you will regret buying one.

Well said. Mine used to be next to my bed, but it's since been replaced by it's bigger brother; a CZ 75B. I still absolutely love to shoot the 82 and I'm more accurate with it than any other gun I own.
