308 win w 135gr SMK

OK so I am looking for a good load for short range (100 to 400 Yards) So I figured I would try Sierra's new entry 135gr SMK. I ordered a box and loaded up some. Now there is no data out there right now for them that I have found. So I called Sierra and they told me to use 155gr load data as this would be safe. I asked what about 125gr they said no way (CYA I think).

So I load these up with 45.2gr of Varget CCI BR2 primers and .020" off the lands. I got out yesterday to shot some over the chrony and I was absolutely surprised at the results my average velocity was 3076fps with a SD of 16fps and an Extreme Spread of 52 fps (3102 and 3050). Cases showed no signs of pressure no flattened primer no primer set back ect...

I was thinking that these were a little hot but the indicators say no. These are being shot in a match grade barrel (Douglas SS) on a 1917 Rem Enfield action. The rifle was a 30-06 then was made into a 300H&H then into a 308win. Talk about a life huh.

Accuracy was pure crap by my standards 10 shots 1.5" @ 100 yards.

I am looking for a sub 1/2" group so I can get a new 20moa base and use this rifle in F-class matches shot local here at Quantico. I need to get some 175gr SMK and Bergers.
