Some states are considering taxes as high as 50 % on ammo purchases and taxing permits and having higher taxes on gun purchases.

The feds are even considering a 10% handgun tax claiming it will be used for gun safety and violence prevention.

OF course most gun owners look at it as back door gun control.

There is already an 11% FET on sporting goods (i.e. guns and ammo). When you consider that some states have raised gas, alcohol, and cig taxes to record levels, it won't surprise me to see that happening.

And in other states, the legislators/revenuers will be seen as baby-saving heroes. And those are where these laws will be enacted. The issue is whether the current occupant of the White House will attempt such a maneuver.

They will use the money indoctrinating young people about the evil of firearms, with our own money. Not a dime of it will go to anything like an Eddie Eagle program, just brainwashing.

They started doing that back in the 60s when LBJ's "Great Society" came into being. They took over the education system from to to bottom - (remember the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world)which is why you see so many folks anti-gun

They have the legal authority to tax. What they do with it is what matters.

And while I am, of course, upset with any new tax proposals, there are some that are MUCH worse than others.

Adding a new tax to the purchase of guns or ammo is bad...possibly not legal (but that would depend entirely on the exact wording of the laws, AND a court's interpretation). It is something that should be fought tooth and nail, politically, before any proposed tax gets to a vote for passage. And still fought afterwards, if passed.

However, proposed taxes on the purchase are not as onerous as other proposed tax schemes that they have tried in the past, and are still, no doubt waiting in the wings for each, and every time they think they might be able to get them passed.

What I am talking about are the proposals about taxing our property (guns & ammo) not at purchase, but yearly, making us pay for the ownership, over, and over. Even a "modest" fee could be a crippling expense for many of us. Particularly if imposed every year. To date, every one of these proposals has been shot down, well short of a vote in our legislatures, but who can say in the future?

There have been proposals to tax us on what we ought to be earning (based on our education levels, or based on rental property, or something else), ignoring reality. College degree? well then you ought to be making $XXX... so your taxes are.. Rental property? $XXXX... not based on what you are actually making, or if the property is being rented, etc. Based on what they thought we ought to be earning...

These get shot down, for cause, but the fact that they propose them, and KEEP proposing them, or similar things ought to be worrisome, at the least.

Ever wonder why many politicians and leaders want to punish EVERYONE for the acts of criminals? Take away our gun rights, take away our freedom, increase taxes on ammo for EVERYONE? Why don't they stop at punishing the criminal? The reasons are simple. They want more power, control and money. Our founding fathers knew that sometime we would wind up with leaders like this. That is why they added Amendments to our Constitution. Like the 2nd Amendment! We have now arrived at that time. God bless our founding fathers for their insight. Hopefully, we will someday again get intelligent leaders that believe in our Constitution and rights. Leaders that understand what our country was founded for and stands for. The land of the free and home of the brave. Happy 4th of July! Stand up for our rights to bear arms.
