My pick would be the S&W 4506, but there are a lot of choices. The Stoeger Cougar is a nice gun, as are the CZ-97, and the Sig 220. The Sig is probably my least favorite, I don't like the trigger much, for some reason. I had an EAA Witness in .45 and it was a great gun. I had to sell it and want another one, or a CZ-97B.

If the CZ-97 / Witness interest you, check out the SAR K2-45. Imported from Turkey, made by Sarsilimaz, it's 14 + 1 vs the 10 + 1 of the CZ / Witness. Ergos are sweet and mine has been 100% since day one, and I carry it on duty. It's as accurate as you are.
Just something else to think about. |

For HD and range use the Witness Elite Match is a good choice. It's well within your budget and you aren't going to find a more accurate pistol or a better trigger in that range.
