Who makes it? 9mm 1911

The recent review of the Dan Wesson CCO put me on the hunt for a similar 1911...

Who makes a 9mm 1911 with a Commander slide on a Officer frame in all-stainless?

Good question. Nothing really comes to mind except having one custom built.

Main reason could be is that the Commander slide/officer frame is meant as a carry/SD weapon. Ideally in low light situations, you would want a flat black/ blued carry vs a stainless steel finish due to the light that will mirror and glare off of the SS finish giving the "bad guy" your position + it's harder to conceal.

I would assume this is the reason why the Dan Wesson guardian, CCO, ECO are all blued with Night sights.

Here's more info.

Wilson combat has a number of models that will meet that spec....and an all stainless finish is an option on most of their models.

I have full sized, 5", Protector Model....in 9mm from Wilson that I've had for about 6 yrs....its a great gun / my primary range practice gun - where my primary carry gun is the same gun in .45acp...

http://thefiringline.com/forums/atta...0&d=1357338028

( the all stainless Wilson, is 2nd gun up from bottom / the bottom one is my 5" carry gun - Wilson CQB model )....Les Baer at top left is also a 9mm but its a 5" Monolith model / and gun at far right, top is a Kimber Tactical Pro II model, 4", alloy frame in 9mm as well...the others are .45 acp...

-----------
I prefer Wilson's for my 1911's...over Ed Brown, Nighthawk, Les Baer, etc...but other companies like Colt, etc have made 1911's in 9mm for a long time...

None of the Dan Wesson pistols are blued. The alloy frames are anodized with Duty Treat (ferritic nitrocarburized) stainless slides. The all-steel guns are stainless steel with Duty Treat.

A little more affordable than a Wilson would be a Les Baer Stinger. http://www.lesbaer.com/StingerSS.html. I have a Stinger which has a Bear Coat finish. Excellent pistol though I usually opt for my lightweight Dan Wesson CCO.

You're not going to get a whole lot of choices in the all stainless configuration because most folks use them as carry guns and go with an aluminum frame.

CORRECTION: Didn't notice the 9mm requirement. The Baer Stinger is .45 acp only.

I know. Blued is just easier to type and gets the point across. Laziness on my part LOL.

I have looked for many years for a 9mm cco.
there is only 1 current manufacture that builds them and it is nighthawk. t3 i think is the designation.
However, I can't justify spending 3k on a single pistol

there are a couple that are almost CCO's in that they use 4 inch barrels not 4.25.
STI has one and one other, I can't remember at the moment.

DW ECO is really just a 9mm officers pistol.

both of these are in the 1400 range.

Fusion will build you one for around 1600 last time I priced them out.

There was a report of someone having the commander size slide from RIA fitted at RIA on the RIA officer size 9mm.
They have gone to true 4.25 inch barrels, but still use the bull barrel setup.

Les Baer makes a Super Stinger in 38 super. with optional chrome or DuPont S finish. Better than 9 for CCW. Very nice IMO.

Nighthawk is not the only mfg that will make a gun with these specs ...or darn close to it .....Wilson Combat has a number of models in the Compact line with 4" and 4.1" barrels...at around 7.6" long overall, a height of 4.9" to 5.2" ...from $ 3,250 - $ 4,000 or so ....CQB Compact, is probably your best option, in my opinion - and you can have it made in all stainless and 9mm...Bill Wilson Carry is another model ...and the Stealth model ...are also good options in my view - if you don't want a full sized gun.

They are a little more money than Nighthawk ...but better guns than Nighthawk in my view...

I don't guess it's CCO, but the STI Duty 4.0 caught my eye the other day.

STI Guardian.
I wonder if the frame is stainless underneath the finish coating?

guys, the big catch is the CCO part of his requirement. a ton of people make 9 in commander or officers. very few make the CCO in 9mm and stainless.

Well damn.. everything that is 4.25" long and 4" tall is well over $1500.
$1500 is even a stretch, for that money I should go with the bona fide 1911 I've been itching for for years... a DW Valor. (I'm taking donations)

The Guardian did catch my attention, so I'm happy to modify my list... How about this...

4.25" long x 4" tall - I do want a Commander slide on a Officer frame.
Still 9mm
Stainless, alloy, black, whatever... so long as the black finish is truly durable I don’t care.
I was wanting simple stainless because its easy to refinish or media blast.

I guess, after looking around, that CCO in 9mm would probably pry my wallet open...
