Glock 36 is quite a bit bigger than a XDS,a Kahr CW 45 might be closer in size ,but not sure how it compares as far as reliability.

+1 on the CW45 recommendation. I just hit 500 virtually flawless rounds through mine. I only have had two light primer strikes on some old fiocchi jhp's._

My 1911 3.5" is close enough for me, except it feels sooo much better in my hand.

The only other handgun that I think could validly compare would be the Kahr PM45 - which is just a tad smaller, and a tad lighter. I have the XDS (bi-tone model) and like it...a lot! It's my EDC. However, in researching them both, the Kahr didn't seem quite as reliable (after all, Kahr clearly tells its owner that it recommends a 200 round break-in) - and it's more expensive! [BTW: I have the Kahr PM40 and yes, had some issues in the early stages with FTF and FTE's. Even now, I wouldn't consider it quite as reliable as my XDS (which, so far, has been perfect).] I've only put about 175 rounds through the XDS, but have had no problems at all! I feel quite confident that, if needed, it will go "boom."
