Anyone have the Beretta ARX160?
I am considering buying an ARX160 at the local Academy for $558 (incl. sales tax). I have searched this Forum for info about the build quality and operation of this gun, but there is nothing useful. The last post was by someone who saw it at the 2013 Shot Show in January. This was before it was released for sale in the US. Has anyone bought one? If so, do they recommend it?
I'm also considering the popular S&W M&P 15-22 (Standard) and the somewhat maligned Walther/Colt M4 Ops. After reading numerous threads on this Forum, I am dropping from consideration the Mossberg 715T. |

I picked up and fondled an ARX160 at sportsmans warehouse the other day. seemed decent enough of a design for a 22 but I would never spend that kind of money on one. a person could get just as much utility out of a $200 ruger 10/22 and $100 archangel conversion stock and have a scary black 22 for half the price.
in a pistol cal carbine I would be quite intrigued by the ARX but somehow I doubt beretta will offer 2 competing pistol cal carbine lines in the same price range.

Of those options you named, the S&W M&P 15-22 is your best bet. Another good option is the SIG 522 (which has a 7075 milled aluminum receiver compared to the polymer or potmetal construction of many of its competitors). IMHO, the .22LR ARX-160 is just too new.
Pass on the Umarex potmetal "Colt" M4-22. Last edited by Fishbed77; June 2, 2013 at 07:55 PM. |
