Sig P2022

Picked up a used Sig today, a 2022 in great condition with 3 mags for $450. Did I pay too much? Hope to shoot it this week during lunch break.
Anybody out there with some expierence with one? I like the feel of it.

I like it. I think I payed $400 BNIB but that was a few years back.

Not a bad deal I guess especially with the mags

Here is my 2022 that I picked up used in April. I think I paid $425 with two mags.

I've had it to the range twice so far and find that it compares favorably with my 229. I've had no failures with it. I really like this gun. It's a service pistol but it's got the SIG quality, in my opinion, just with a little less weight than a 229. Very nice trigger on mine also. Hope you enjoy yours.

I paid $ 419 for mine, NIB, with the one mag. Mags run about forty dollars a pop, so pretty fair deal I think.

In todays environment IMO that is a pretty good deal especially with the 3 mags!

Enjoy your SP2022 . It is a terrific pistol.

You overpaid for it a little, even if it was new that might be a tad steep. However, if you enjoy the gun then I wouldn't worry about it at all.

IMHO yes you paid to much, you got 3 mags so you did good. But it is a fine pistol, and post panic pricing is crazy.

I'd say you did fine. Prices vary regionally and depend on countless other things, including your buying mood on a particular day. All in all $400+/-100 is no big deal. What really matters, you got the sleeper SIG that is undersold in the US because of the overwhelming number of other SIG models. Either way still a great buy. The curious fact is, it is the best selling SIG pistol in Europe. It is well respected by staff at the SIG Academy. Congratulations.

To sig1, I'm the owner that posted the pictures above. I do not carry the 2022, or any other pistol for that matter, as I live in the People's Republic of Maryland. If I lived in a free state I would carry my SR9c, because I like the smaller size better. But I am loving the 2022 for sure.

It all depends on what you actually bought. It ranges from a great deal to a fair deal.

Does the gun have triple serial numbers. One on the frame slide and barrel? Does it have German proof marks? Does it have night sights? Does it have an internal extractor? Did it come in a small black box? If it did you have a all German Sp2022 and you stole it on today environment .

If it does not have the triple serial numbers, proof marks, external extractor etc... You have a US made SP2022 and you got a fair deal considering the three mags...

Great budget gun. There are very few guns in the sub $500 market as nice as the SP2022. The only issue is that the trigger is lot for everyone.

In the right holster you can carry this gun all day long...

The SP2022 is my pick for the best deal in handguns today. I've posted a couple blogs about it (about a year ago) located below:

WV-

What practical difference does it make, which factory the 2022 came from? Have you experienced an external extractor failure in the line of fire?

I've had my 2022 in 9mm for almost two years now. Got it for about the same price you paid, with night sights and one magazine. Probably a couple thousand rounds through it, give or take. Not a bunch, but enough to say that I've got a semi-decent feel for mine. Sadly, mine's been relegated to a range only gun. I don't know if it's just mine, but it didn't like my preferred carry ammo (says not to shoot +Ps. Don't. First round got stuck in the chamber and had the rim torn off trying to extract.) as well as having an issue with the cheap aluminum cased stuff I used to be able to get pretty cheap. I wasn't about to start paying a buck a round for good defensive ammo for it when my Shield will run anything I've fed it. Obviously, I don't carry it.

Even so, the 2022's still the first gun I pull out for a new shooter after I deem that they've graduated from the .22 and are ready for something with a little more girth and kick to it. The single action pull is pretty good and the DA isn't anything to complain about. I ended up putting some adjustable sights on it, since it shot 4 inches low at 7 yards as I got it from the factory. Now I'm pretty pleased with the accuracy.

The Mec-gar magazines are decent, and what I use in it. 17 rounds for less price than the Sig 15 rounders. However, there is a gap between the extended baseplate and the frame, as well as being slightly loose in the grip. I didn't mind enough to spend an extra ~20 bucks per magazine. The top of my barrel has started to rust, and I can't seem to get it off with a thorough cleaning. When I get home, I'll have to get more serious with it. The rest of the finish has held up pretty well to my oh-so-strenuous use at the range. I don't baby it, but I have never really put it in a position where it had a chance to get damaged/scratched/etc. Worst I've done is taken it shooting while snowing.

While I wouldn't make the purchase again with what I know now, I don't regret my 2022 being my first handgun. It has been fun to shoot, and helped to get others interested in shooting. I'd call that a successful investment any day.

Enjoy your Sig, many others are even happier with their than I am with mine. And I can't say I'm all that disappointed.

Sig1, I've owned mine about two years and change I think. I've put roughly 4000 rounds through it no problems. I don't shoot it much because I ideally shoot my carry pistol(Sig 220) more. I'm yet to find a good holster for it. Found a few muli fits, but no good retentions. Was actually thinking of posting in the gear section with the same question.

I like my SP2022 in the 9mm, I'm just trying to get use to the long trigger pull. When I first fired it I thought I had a FTF because when I squeezed the trigger, nothing happened, only to realize that the trigger pull is a lot longer then I expected. The gun is new to me, and it's my only gun with that long of a trigger pull, but I'm getting more familiar with it as I practice. It's never had a failure of any kind, and was picked to be the service pistol in France until 2022, so I from what I've heard and experienced, it's a darn good deal for the $399 that I paid for it. Paying a little more then that, IMHO, with 3 mags (the SP2022 mags are expensive!), was still a great deal! Great purchase buddy, I would have done it too.

I've had mine for almost 2 years now
several THOUSAND rounds down it.
Never a failure out of it no matter the ammo choice from cheap Russian tulamo to high dollar fancy stuff. It just shoots every time.

with magazines running 50 bucks each from most places for the gun you did fine and you will love it a long time.
You cant listen to the ones that think because its a sub 500 dollar gun it cant be a good gun. They are half rite, its not a good gun, its an AWESOME gun.
