A younger counter guy at Gander Mountain talking to a couple in their 30s

Where can we shoot a gun if we buy one?
“Oh anywhere in the National Forest. As long as it is National Forest you can shoot”
Does it have to be unloaded to carry in the car?
“No only in Denver city limits everywhere else is just fine. Most people just put them in the glove box”

In Georgia that is a 100% accurate statement, except we have no Denver, where guns are not allowed. To the best of my knowledge it is also an accurate statement for Colorado.
In the national forest you can shoot in certain areas but not many around Denver.
No shooting 150 yards from a residence, building, campsite, developed recreation area or occupied area.
Most of our National forest around Denver is developed hiking trail heads, campgrounds and places that are devolved trails. Places were shooting spots got trashed out so now they have “no shooting” signs at them.

It is very hard to find a any national forest shooting spot with in an hour drive of Denver. Many of the NF law enforcement come to the sound of gun shots and like to write tickets.

To have a gun loaded and concealed in Colorado is illegal unless you have a CWL.
