This is a little bit of a tangent,but I started mounting my scope even with the back of the trigger guard on my rifles years ago.Since they are all in the same place it makes changing from one rifle to the other easier.That is far enough forward that you have to lean up to it a little,so it's hard for the eyepiece to get back to you under recoil.
