Define "practical". Highly specialized target arms such as the Anschutz Free Pistol or the Winchester Model 52, guns made for any specialized sport or competition could be labeled "impractical". Guns for which ammunition is extremely hard to find or unavailable-some of the old larger than 22 rimfires, e.g.
Perhaps we should focus on "impractical" or "unsuitable". Relying on a single shot-in a minor caliber-for SD, or a refined target pistol for CCW.
