I'd certainly recommend the 60 Nosler Partition if you're going to shoot small whitetail deer with the 223. I haven't shot a deer with that bullet, but have shot quite a few 200 pound hogs. One of the hogs was shot, due to lack of other options, right up the rectum, and it penetrated to the vitals and killed him. He did run about 75 yards before he gave it up, however. If you want to practice with other bullets because the Partition is expensive, try the 60 grain Ballistic Tip. I believe that it should have a very similar POI to the Partition. Only problem I have with the Partition is that I just can't seem to get it to shoot particularly well in my 223, but that may not be a problem in your rifle. Since I couldn't do that well with the Partition, I switched to the 65 gr Sierra Gameking. I expect it to do well, though I plan to just shoot pigs with it. I have other better cartridges for deer.
