If we're going to start recommending .22 pistols I have to mention the Smith & Wesson 22-A. I have one, two friends of mine have one, two other friends with Rugers want one. Great gun for money, reliable accurate, eats all brands of ammo, all of the things they say about the MK III and better looking too.
OK, the last one may be a bit subjective... That new Ruger SR 22 is very nice too.
