Rebluing a shotgun with a ribbed barrel

I have a J.C. Higgins model 20 pump shotgun which is the same as a High Standard model 200. I want to have the gun reblued but the barrel has a factory rib on it and I don't know if the rib is attached with the "soft" or "hard solder process. This shotgun has the barrel screwed into the receiver so I can't access the rib joint at that end to try and scrape the joint with a pick to see if the solder is soft. Also, the muzzle end has a Cutts Comp/Poly Choke arraingement which prevents my accessing the rib joint on this end. I can't scrape the sides of the rib because the joint is tight with the barrel. I don't want to send it out for a hot blue and have the rib come off in the tank. If anyone could tell me which process was used by the manufacturer to attach the ribs I would appreciate it.
