IMO, the level of strict scrutiny in McDonald goes much further than dealing with a complete ban. This level of scrutiny requires a clear and compelling reason for limiting our access to the class of firearms you discuss. Previously, it was enough for a state or city simply to say, "you can't have these."

I may be wrong, but Heller did NOT have such a level of scrutiny.
