I had a couple of extra 22's without scopes and I put BSA 4 powers from Walmart on them. The price must've been around $30, and they worked just fine. My 'good' 22's all have Leupold 2x7's on them. If you want something better than BSA's, I'm guessing that you could prowl some gunshows and find some used Weaver 4 powers fairly cheap, and they'll last forever.
