They are pistols. But he wants something like a MP-9 subgun, so therefore I suggested that he buy one and register it as an SBR, so he can put a stock on it. If you look closely at the pictures on DSA's website you can even see they left the mounting point for the stock hinge on the pistol's receiver, so it shouldn't be that hard to install the stock.
