I definitely hadn't heard about this before now, but my current intake of news is relatively little (mostly because the stories are there to shock you and more often than not present too much opinion instead of fact). FWIW this looks like a decent article, but the pessimist in me doesn't think this will do too good a job of countering the anti-gun feelings from Aurora and Newtown because the hero was an off duty cop.

Anti's will probably say that it only worked because police are trained specifically for similar situations and an average CCW holder would just miss and harm others in their attempt to stop the threat. Sorry, just pessimistic right now in regards to actually changing anybody's mind with facts and real world accounts.

Good job on the part of the off duty officer though. It's nice to see one of these stories with a simple and non-tragic ending. Too bad it was and never will be national news simply because few people were hurt.
