Thank you guys for all your help. I think for me it would be a mistake to buy the colt carry handle top gun. Instead I believe I will go with a Stag model 4 flattop.
I haven't been able to find a colt flat top stripped receiver to change out, so buying the colt would be buying something a gun that doesn't fit my wants or needs and would have to be altered right off the get go.
