I've receintly started shooting IDPA, and am thinking I should try some reloading. I have collected several hundred brass in 9 mm. The only thing I have thus far is an old Lortone Compact Lapidary Tumber, without a drum. Can I just get a cylindrical plastic bottle to use to tumble in?

The motor says: "#20 NON-DET OIL EVERY 3 MO." I'm assuming that means I should oil the motor every 3 months. What do they mean by #20 non-det oil? Where could I get it? Where should I oil?

How much media vs how many brass should I use? How much empty space should I leave? I'm planning to start with either rice or walnut media purchased at the pet store. Any preferences?

A non tumbler question: Are dies interchangeable between the different brand presses? I have a family friend with a press that I can probably use if I were to buy the dies. Would I be locked into that brand of press?
