A trigger job on a 1911 style pistol isn't difficult. Just changing the springs will help.
However, polish(not files or stones) all the mating surfaces on the sear and hammer, polish the sides of the trigger where it runs in the frame and clip a 1/4 turn off the mainspring. You may need to take a bit more off the mainspring, but start with a 1/4 turn.
You may want to think about changing the sights too.
