Most H&R revolvers were/are low quality/low price guns.
Sort of like if High Point made a line of revolvers that Home Depot carried under the Ryobi brand name....type of gun.
I have a couple of them.
One is an ancient snub nose pull pin that beloonged to my late father in law, and the other is a .22/.22mag "Convertible" I bought 30 years ago.
They work & for the price & for a short time, they work pretty well.
They wear out parts pretty quick though.
BTW - as you've already found out - the bluing is crude at best. Make sure you keep it well oiled &/or wiped down.
You shouldn't have any trouble wrecking havoc on the bunny population.
(poor bunnies....I like rabbits,,,had a pet one as a kid.)
