What different opinion? If it was required to get up from prone to reload a bolt rifle from the top, I would agree with you that it is not convenient.
But it it's not. I am sorry, but I can't imagine why it would be. Even if you don't put the ammo where you could reach it, you still shouldn't have to get up, unless you keep your spare ammo back in the truck.
