You are right ofcorse, the Conical bullets were somewhere in the weight range of 180gr. - 205gr. & with using approximately 25gr. of FFFG powder would produce approximately 770fps - 800fps yielding 256ft. lbs. - 269ft. lbs. of energy a bit more than the average Ball load of the day "30gr. FFFG = 850fps. 228ft. lbs." so it had a advantage of more energy to the target but the accuracy was much to be desired due to the bullets being harder to load than ball making them at times canted in the bore & therefore misaligned through the bore & in flight.

I remember reading that many would preferr the Ball loads over the Conical loads due to it being easier to load & the Ball being a more reliable man stoper possibly due to it being more accurate.

Now the the OP's request, Dixie Gun works has 2 1858 copies that are Stainless & Satin finish.
