Miboso, you fail to realize that "the Bill of Rights only applies to the Federal government" is how the law is applied. There is a difference between what the law says and how the law is applied. I think we are all in agreement here that the way the law is applied is not what the law says.
Now before the 14th Amendment, the Bill of Rights only applied to the Federal government. Since the 14th Amendment, parts of the Bill of Rights apply to the state governments.
I think we are all in agreement that from day one the Bill of Right applies to all forms of federal, state, and local governments. The problem is the court doesn't see it that way, but they are starting to do so. We have to take small steps to regain our rights.
I am the last person who should be lectured about the Second Amendment. Trust me.
