People who never clean their guns just to prove the point of, "look my Glock has 1000 rounds through it and it's never been cleaned, still works too!", are foolish. If you are relying on a gun for self defense, clean and lube the damn thing. You gain nothing by running your gun dirty. Not to mention a gun lacking sufficient lubrication will wear faster.
