I believe the OP was interested in the weather impact of leaving a firearm in the car, but if you do, please lock it up securely. I keep my Sig P220 in my car when I cant carry it with a Gunvault clamshell type safe screwed to the trunk floor and attached with its cable to the frame. Its not going anywhere. Cheap insurance against theft.
