My buddy has one, ~100lbs., and she's a nice dog, if she knows you. As for a BG, he'd crap his pants and get away from there in a hurry.

For me, I've only got cats, and I doubt even "evil kitty" would be of much good, so I have to rely on my hardware alternatives. The .38Spl is easy to handle, close to the bed, and should be enough.
