Not hardly. They are an okay design and worked well for when they were developed but they have proven time and again to clog up with heavy clothing. They also do not do well with intermediate barriers due to the fact they are not bonded. Federal themselves have several bullet designs that are better then the Hydra-shok let alone the numerous other companies who make self defense loads. Would I use them if they were my only option. Yes, but I would not go out of my way looking for them.
