Without close up pictures of the markings? My 2¢, from your photo is that it HAS been cut down by bubba and the stock has been refinished. More photos, preferably close-ups are needed.

My reference, notes that Spandau only made G 98 rifles ( 29+" barrels ). Between 1900 + 1918.
