Gun writer & US Army veteran; Duane Thomas wrote a great in-depth review of why the 10mm is not a good choice for defense/protection/duty in the mid-1990s.
I think it was for Handguns magazine. It may be online in 2013.
Thomas made a solid arguement for not using the 10mm.
The big things were that it had problems with feeding/cycles and a lot of recoil/muzzle blast.
It has a high KE level & it's fast(high vel) but I'm not a big fan of the 10mm.
