Yes, very similar behavior.
I replaced both the spring and extractor because it was only $13 at the time.
They had gotten tired of sending out freebies, not knowing if it was to replace a bad unit or somebody just wanting free spares.
From my reading since then, I think a fresh stiff spring would have been enough. But I no longer have the old extractor to test that with.
