Bakers are great shotguns, and one of the few US made sidelocks. Zippy's advice about a smith looking it over is very good.

Have the smith check the chamber length, it should be 2 3/4" to use with modern ammo.

16 gauges work best with 1 oz or 7/8 oz loads. I'd skip heavy loads and definitely shun steel pellets and similar in this fine older gun.
