I keep getting rust on various parts of my M1 such as the part of the opp rod where my finger touches it. I want to remove the rust so I ordered this...

I also then want to put Duracoat Clear SL on the rifle so that it doesn't rust again. I'm just not sure if I should do this to my M1 and what do you guys think of the rust remover?
