I have a Ruger MK-II Ultra-Lite in .223 with a pencil thin barrel.
If I shoot 3,000 to 3,200 fps loads it groups 3 1/2 inches, because of it's pencil thin barrel. 22 Hornet velocity is about 2600fps. Try these 2 loads:
55 grain bullet...21.5 grains of Winchester 748 [Est. 2600fps.]
60 grain bullet...25.0 grains of Winchester 748.

In my Ultra-Lite you can cover the group with a dime at 100 yards.

I have two [est. 1850 fps loads] for 25 yards.
223...55 grain PSP 5.6 gr of UNIQUE
Hornet...45 or 55 grain PSP 4.1 grains of UNIQUE
