I have used - and still do - both of the bullets mentioned. They both shoot well - though I have not shot either at 200 yards. The modern minie is marginally more accurate in my little .50 carbine.
Flints - I normally buy Tom Fuller flints from Track of the Wolf. Just recently I bought a bunch of yellow French flints at a very reasonable price (can't find the link though - I'll keep looking.)
