I bought the identical Zastava M57A in 7.62x25.
Out of the box, it had some kind of oil-like substance on it. When cleaning the bore, the patches were oily brown. Likewise the rest of the pistol. I lubed it generously with Ballistol.
My first range trip, I fired 70rds of Romanian surplus, and 30 of S&B.
It worked perfectly.
It is certainly the finest Tokarev available, IMHO. If the your 9mm can be sorted out, I'm sure you will be happy with it.
