If you're going to get a 5.56 Blaster, and want value, stick with the AR15 pattern rifles. You are not going to get much return with the expensive SCAR or Hk416 variants. The TAVOR and AUG are fun rifles, which are nice and compact, but at the end of the day, still shoot a 5.56 cartridge.
If you want a 800M Capable, 7.9lb 7.62 battle rifle, the SCAR17 is a beast, fully worth it's $2,600 price tag.
I am fairly confident that the SCAR16 will not become more popular in the future. The SCARs you see from the Kenya incident were the 7.62 SCAR17 models.
