I haven't shot 3-gun for some years, but when I did, I concluded that the pistol didn't really matter, that you had to have a rifle with 30-round mags, and that shotgun stage design was so unimaginative, that autoloading shotguns conveyed a huge advantage (which wouldn't have been the case if there were a bit more variety).
